Anjing Kampung (Local dogs)?

There hasn't been any proper research done on the local dog breed of Malaysia. Some of them resemble the Basenji and others resemble the Labrador Retriever. Though many of these local residents have been bred with other more well known breeds anywhere from the Terrier, Shih Tzu, Spitz, German Shepherd, Rottweiler, Doberman, Husky and numerous others. This state of affairs has changed the types of dogs we now have in Malaysia. I personally prefer to separate the two into different categories. Because there is clearly a difference between the Anjing Kampung and the mixed breeds. The local attitude would prefer the mixed breeds because they are imported dogs or have partial imported dog lineage and would actually breed the local dogs with these imported breeds. As I've written about the Telomian earlier, I am grateful to Dr. Elliot for having prevented the extinction of the local dogs of Malaysia. If it weren't for him, these primitve breeds would probably have been wiped out decades ago.

It would be interesting to have further research done on both the Telomian and Anjing Kampung to see where down the line the one breed branched out to develop into the Anjing Kampung we know today.

Should the Anjing Kampung be left to dissapear and be forgotten? I think not.
